BATTLE STATIONS, ALL CREW TO THE GUNS
Our convoy is coming
it will be within range of enemy aircraft during the last 1hr of this mission
we dont expect air attacks but now is not the time for surprises so we will put a CAP in place
The biggest concern are the axis ships patrolling between Cap Bon and Sicily
these vessels are the immediate threat
our Coastal Command Beaufighters and Beauforts will be sent to deal with them
Heres the aircraft allocation
Malta CAP - 18 a/c
4xHurricane Mk.IIA - default - JG77 + GIAP
4xHurricane Mk.IIA - default - IAF
4xHurricane Mk.IIB - droptanks + 8xMG - IAF
4xHurricane Mk.IIC - droptanks - EAF
2xBeaufighter - 2x500lb - 102nd
The IIA must wait on the ground until scrambled by radar
The IIB and IIC will get an airstart and your job is to identify enemy a/c as they approach
the IIA will takeoff when enemy bombers are sighted
The Beaufighters are to investigate enemy contacts 30-40km east of Malta but never go beyond radar cover
your primary purpose is to bring down enemy bombers attacking Malta
Strike + Recon - 4 a/c
1xMaryland (Blenheim) - 10xPhoto of Pantelleria Airfield
1xMaryland (Blenheim) - 10xPhoto of enemy ships west coast of Sicily
2xWellington (IL4) - 3xFAB250 + 10xFAB100 - Bomb Pachino Airfield at grid CE20
NW CAP / Anti-Ship Sweep - 12 a/c
4xBeaufighter - 2x500lb bomb - 3xEAF + Petr
4xBeaufort (DB7) - 1xTorpedo - 2xEAF + 2x102nd
4xFulmar - Droptanks - CAP + Escort
Multiple enemy vessels scattered between Cape Bon and Sicily are blocking our convoy route to Malta
we must sink or drive off these enemy ships
The Beaufighters and Beauforts will split into pairs to form two attack teams
each attack team will be 2xBeaufighter and 2xBeaufort we will then proceed to seek out enemy shipping
If enemy vessels are detected we will reform into an 8 aircraft team and attack
If enemy a/c are detected they will become our priority
The Fulmars are to take off and climb as high as possible and move ahead of the convoy
