Buckshot

Here's an interesting comparison between the F15 as modelled in LOMAC and in Falcon, comparing it to the real EM charts, Falcon really shines through despite not being designed to simulate the F15 at all. This was posted at frugals by Honcho of the Project Phoenix team.
I don't know if this will clear anything up at all, but I'm working on the F-15A/C for PP and I have access to the EM charts. I decided to do a test on F4 and Lomac to see who was closer to the published data. I decided to do a vMax test and acceleration times. According to the EM charts, using a Standard US Atmosphere:
1. A clean F-15C (GW 35,000 lbs) with the F100 engine will reach Mach 2.41 at 44,000ft.
2. At a GW of 38,000 lbs and speed Mach 0.8, it will accelerate to a speed of Mach 2.29 in 260 seconds at 40,000ft.
Here are my results:
F4 vMax = Mach 2.4 @ 44,000ft
F4 Accel = 255 seconds to Mach 2.3 @ 40,000ft
Lomac vMax = Mach 1.32 @ 44,000ft
Lomac Accel = 300 seconds to Mach 1.3 @ 40,000ft
This was not a totally scientific test, but it shows some real problems with Lomac's FM and some real credit to the F4 FM folks. The Lomac F-15 always felt too slow and unresponsive to me and now I know I wasn't imagining it. Other than the FBW issues, the F4 F-15C is pretty damn close in terms of flight performance. My thanks to whomever was responsible for the FM.
